Carb-load at breakfast to burn through the day

This is a delicious snack or breakfast idea from our six-pack detox plan.

When you're working out, you need to ensure you control your blood sugar levels. Particularly after a few days of the plan, you may start to crave something sweet. Instead of  reaching for a sugary chocolate bar or energy drink, reach for a bagel.

Bagels are high in carbs, so not recommended for a sedentary lifestyle. However, if you are going to be working out, they can provide an energy boost to get you going.

Go for a whole-wheat bagel, which has a B-vitamin complex, including thiamin, niacin, and riboflavin, and also provides fibre.

Slathering the bagel in peanut butter is not only satisfying, it adds protein, 'good' or unsaturated fats, magnesium, and fibre.

Finally, honey is known as 'nature's medicine' and contains all sorts of goodness. It's known to help speed up healing and increase athletic performance, so it's the ideal pre-workout food. 

A sweet snack to give you a natural sugar hit, and set you up to workout - perfect!

  • Whole-wheat bagel
  • Honey
  • 1 tbsp. peanut butter
  1. Halve and toast the bagel
  2. Spread the peanut butter evenly over both halves
  3. Drizzle a small amount of honey over both halves
  4. Eat all for breakfast or have half at breakfast and half for a mid-morning snack
