Low-fat chocolate and almond drink, to revive a tired body

Think a glass of chocolate milk sounds too good to be true as part of a healthy diet? Think again.

This delicious drink calls for four pieces of high cocoa-content chocolate (at least 70%) which is actually loaded with minerals, including Iron, Copper and Magnesium.

Although it's still high in calories, it's full of fatty acids which are necessary for cell development and repairal. Lots of antioxidants are also packed into just a few squares of good quality dark chocolate, and it's linked to reducing insulin resistance, making it good for diabetics. Cacao also contains a mild stimulant, so it's good for a post-workout pick-me-up.

Semi-skimmed milk contains less calories than full-fat milk, but  loses none of its nutrients, including protein and calcium.

Like milk, almonds are good for building strong bones and teeth. They nourish the nervous system, alkalise the body, which helps strengthen your immune system, and lower bad cholesterol.

They're also very heart-healthy, and protect the artery walls from damage.

Manuka honey has been described as 'nature's medicine' and is known for it's healing properties. It's anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and has been known to reduce pain. In addition, it's a natural energy booster, and offers support to your digestive system.

Whey protein helps you to lose flab, whilst still preserving and even building muscle. It supports your immune system, and reduces feelings of hunger, to help you stay full for longer.

Simple to make, lovely to drink and a nutritious treat for your body - everything you need post-workout.
