Protein-packed energising smoothie A fruity smoothie, packed with vitamin E and green goodness

One of our six-pack detox recipes, this chilled smoothie is packed with protein and vitamins, for a great tasting snack that will keep you going throughout the day.

Spirulina is a true superfood. The blue-green algae grows primarily in Japan, Hawaii and Africa, but, in the UK, it is consumed in tablet or powder supplement form, usually in cold beverages and smoothies.

It is a dense protein which contains iron, calcium and a whole host of vitamins, including vitamin B1 (Thiamin) which helps to digest fat and protein and is effective in improving nerve function.

As well as lowering cholesterol, spirulina is anti-inflammatory, anti-allergen and removes heavy metals from the body. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant that is known for aiding the production of muscle by burning fat during exercise.

Spirulina has a strong distinctive taste, so adding honey not only sweetens the smoothie, but it also a natural energy to the drink, giving you a hit of natural sugar straight into your bloodstream.

Like spirulina, honey has healing properties and can be used as an antibiotic both if ingested, or applied externally. It is anti-allergen, suppresses coughs and colds, helps you sleep, and even boosts short-term memory.

Almond milk is low in sodium, contains no saturated fat, and is high in vitamins and minerals, whilst whey protein builds muscle, helping you sculpt your body.

Antioxidant rich blueberries and banana add fibre and potassium, whilst spinach is loaded with nutrients and also increases muscle strength.

Chia means strength in Mayan and Chia seeds really pack a powerful punch of nutrients. They are also good for building endurance, so they're ideal workout food.

Designed for strength, endurance and muscle building, this is a powerful hit of protein, perfect for your workout plan.
